This Video Demonstration is a narrated screencam showing how to set up NAPT tests. The Spirent TestCenter Application does not have a built-in way to test when a device, like a home router, is performing NAT. The attachment includes the relevant files and instructions to use some not so commonly known functions such as custom tools and commands. The video describes to two to accomplish this: First, the ScriptCommand is evoked from the Command Sequencer’s NAPT Custom command “NAPT: Build Inbound Streams” and is used to build the Inbound traffic. The outbound traffic utilizes unidirectional Bound Stream Block (Bound so there are devices on both sides to respond to ARP). The inbound traffic is then built automatically by executing the NAPT Custom command with the outbound Bound Stream Block already running. Second, the NAPT ScriptWizard is evoked from the Tools > Custom Tools and will build traffic for both Directions; the necessary Command Sequencer events too. It will build Raw Stream Blocks for both outbound and inbound traffic; a “temporary” inbound one to respond to ARP. The “permanent” inbound traffic is then built automatically by executing a “Global Services” script. In either case the commands set and reset Analyzer Filters on the Rx port to parse for various MAC, VLAN, IP, and UDP Port information from which to build the appropriate inbound Raw Stream Block(s). In the Zip File attached here is a text file describing what to do. For it you cannot use Tcl Configured for Spirent TestCenter which is downloaded from the CSC. Rather, I used ActiveState ActiveTcl 8.4.20 and the Spirent TestCenter Application 4.31 but it should work with other versions of these.
